Here they are cheers

FORKS Fun-Fly Rules & Events

Rules:

1. Any fixed wing aircraft is eligible.
2. Pilots must use the same aircraft in ALL events, except in case of an involuntary inversion. Then one (1) substitute aircraft will be allowed.
3. Pilot may chose no more then four (4) events in which to participate.
4. Pilot will furnish his own fuel.
5. Read rules carefully.
6. The CD has final authority.
7. Have fun.

Events:

1. Mail Run

Pilot must taxi to spot on field where he will pick up mail ( business card). Once at “post office one” mail is attached to plane (rubber band) by caller. Pilot takes off and passes upwind and downwind markers and lands. Then taxis to second spot to deliver mail. Helper then hand delivers mail to postmaster (CD). Time starts when plane starts to roll and ends when mail is delivered.
Shortest time wins. Points awarded for this event – 10 for first, 9 for second, ect.

2. Scrooge

Pilot fuels empty tank from 15cc syringe (provided). Longest time in air wins. (10 seconds are added for each loop performed)
Longest time wins. Points awarded for this event - 10 for first, 9 for second, ect.

3. Bean counter

Pilot attaches a Styrofoam cup to plane. (Cup may not be modified other then to attach to aircraft). Deposit 25 beans in cup. Take off and perform one loop and land. Winner is determined by the most beans remaining. Points awarded for this event - 10 for first, 9 for second, ect. Ties will be settled by shortest time.

4. Balloon Burst ( weather dependent)

Pilot tries to burst a tethered balloon. Shortest time wines but has a 3 minute time limit from leaving the ground. Shortest time in the air scores 10 points, next shortest 9, ect. Cutting tether is 10 bonus points, bursting tethered balloon is 20 points, bursting balloon after cutting tether is 30 bonus points plus the 10 points for cutting the tether.

5. Georgia Air Show

Time begins. Pilot starts engine. Pilot eats soda cracker and whistles audibly before taking off. When he leaves the ground he must eat another soda cracker and whistle audibly again before landing. Shortest time wins. Points awarded for this event - 10 for first, 9 for second, ect.

questions...

Event # 2... Do the loops have to be dead stick or can they be powered?

Event # 4... Can the pilot stand wherever he/she wants or does everyone have to stand in the same place?

Events look like a ton of fun!

Loops is loops. Nothing stipulated in the rules so all loops add 10 seconds no matter when performed.

Event # 4... Can the pilot stand wherever he/she wants or does everyone have to stand in the same place?

Safety is the only concern. Pilot may stand in any safe place. Each pilot may determine where he/she stands other than that.

I hope so. Something a little different. Don't read too much into the rules or the events. If it doesn't say anything specifically against something (like modifying the cup on the bean counter event) it's probably OK to do.

Weigh the scoring carefully. Sometimes bonus points may not be what they seem as opposed to low flight time. Sometimes they may be more valuable. Read each event carefully.

I knew you would be the one to ask the questions. Cool Cool Cool

Depends on your interpretation of fixed I guess. Fixed could mean opposite of rotary wing as in helicopter. It could also mean fixed as in repaired. In this case it means a flat or airfoiled surface that generates lift like a conventional aircraft whether full scale or miniature.

In the fun fly any airplane may compete but no helicopters or autogyros will be legal. Read rule number 6 very carefully. LOL!!

I used to have the club's stopwatches and lap counters. I do not have them anymore. They may be in the building at the field but am not sure.

I need a stopwatch or two for the fun fly today. If someone knows where they are or has one of their own please bring it with you.

Thanks,
Joe
